About Us

Walk-eez is run by me - Trina, my partner Jeremy and ably assisted by our Chocolate labradors Happy and Brogan!

I started working in a small Golden Retriever breeding and boarding kennels 25 years ago undertaking what was then the YTS Scheme, coming away with a City and Guilds in Small Animal Care and The National Small Animal Care Certificate. I looked after 11 of our own Goldens, plus boarders which meant a lot of walking usually with 6 dogs at a time!

My family also became the proud owners of ‘Monty’ a Golden pup, who was born there and I was lucky enough to have been at the mating and at his birth, he was a handsome, cuddly bear of a dog, was with us for 14 wonderful years and is one of those dogs that was just truly special and will always have a place in our hearts.

I then moved onto a rescue kennels and cattery, where I spent 4 years being heartbroken every day, although it was probably one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever had.

It did lead to my owning MY first dog ‘Kane’ the German Shepherd, he was a 5 month old bundle of fur, big ears and paws when he captured my heart, arriving as stray that was never claimed. He wasn’t easy and had issues with other dogs but he taught me a lot and together we got through the tough stuff well enough for him to live with numerous dogs throughout his life. During this time my family also had the joy of owning ‘Ember’ the Rottweiler, she was the biggest black and tan baby, incredibly loving and had more quirks than any dog I’ve ever known!

I spent 5 years in the Ambulance Service and although an exciting and rewarding job, it really isn’t the most dog friendly career so I had to go dog free for a while, instead, owning 2 cats ‘Beryl’ who was diabetic and had to have insulin injections twice a day and ‘Magoo’ the cuddliest most playful boy!

I eventually moved to Surrey and to having Happy coming into my life at the tender age of 7 wks old, she was a dream puppy and has turned into a 2 year old clown!

My love of dogs and working with them and the great outdoors has always stayed with me and been my dream to get back to, so as circumstance has now allowed, walk-eez has evolved!!

Jeremy will be a willing helper from time to time! He’s always had dogs in his life and they have always been one of his loves along with rugby, cricket and football! He grew up with Labradors that his aunt bred and spent his childhood with ‘Ricky’ the German Shepherd and ‘Flea’ the Whippet also later on in life owning ‘Lady’ the black lab. 3 years ago he adopted ‘Thelma’ the black cat from his mum as she was being beaten up by the new cat and she has been eternally grateful ever since!

Happy aka Hamster or Hammy! She has matured into a wonderful 3yr old, and has a lovely calm nature to the point of laziness sometimes!

Happy is also a clown and really does know when she is making you laugh and plays on it!  She has a stubborn streak a mile wide but is an amazingly adaptable dog and will turn her paw to whatever we ask of her, from working on a shoot in the beating line in the winter, to enthusiastically enjoying her agility classes, to visiting lots of people as a Pets as Therapy dog and to even having a stint at showing on the green carpet at Crufts 2010, she has also recently passed her Kennel Club Canine Good Citizens Bronze and Silver tests.. with the Gold to follow shortly!

She is truly a fantastic dog and is definitely 'one of those special ones'. We love her to bits despite her being an inveterate scrounger and lover of rolling in fox poo!!

Brogan
... aka Brogie Bear or Dobby! She is Happys half sister and came to live with us as an 8mth old in Feb 2010 coming from the wonderful Wylanbriar Labradors kennel in Worthing. Brogie lives life to the full, rarely sleeps in case she misses something and does everything with total abandonment at 100mph!!

She is an enthusiastic lover of people, dogs and animals alike and has willingly taken on the roll of 'Chief meeter and Greeter for Walk-eez'! She has fitted in to our little family incredibly well to the point where we don't remember life without her, we never knew there was a hole to fill but Brogie has managed to do it!

Despite her outgoing personality, she can also be amazingly gentle and seems to have a particular affinity with puppies with oodles of patience and care. Brogan will soon be having her assessment to become a PAT dog like her big sister and will also be taking her Kennel Club Canine Good Citizens Bronze test.

She really is such a sweet natured girl who loves her cuddles and home comforts!
